Solution for Vehicle Location Inaccuracy on Google Maps

Aug. 26, 2021

Google Maps is the most used application for location-based services. If Google Maps doesn't show you or your vehicle's correct location, you may have problems using an app that relies directly on location-based services. Google Maps uses your network, and your vehicle's GPS tracker system to pinpoint your device's location.

Today I will show you some solutions to the problem of incorrect location on the map for vehicles with trackers.

Factors that affect GPS positioning

The number of GPS satellites at the current location

Quality of the GPS antenna in your smartphone

Implementation of the driver in the operating system

An incorrect location on the map can hurt you and seriously harm you if it is not corrected immediately. As an online software service, it is always prone to some or other type of technical glitch.

Here is a simple and effective solution to fix incorrect vehicle GPS locations on Google Maps.

Improve GPS Accuracy

Go to Settings and look for the option called Location and make sure your location service is turned on.

The first option under Location should now be Mode, click on it and set it to High Accuracy. This will use your GPS as well as your Wi-Fi and mobile network to estimate your location.

This will use more battery, but will provide you with the most accurate location using all available methods.

Disable Analog Location

Step 1. First go to the settings of your Android device.

Step 2. Now scroll down and look for the option called Developers Option. If the Developers Option is not available, open About Phone.

Step 3. Now under About phone click on the built-in version 6-7 times. You will get a message "You are now a developer!"

Step 4. Now click on the back button and you will find the Developers Option there.

Step 5. Open the Developers Option and close it.

Step 6. otherwise scroll down and manually turn off the simulated GPS.

Refresh your GPS data

Sometimes your device can get "stuck" on some GPS satellites, even if they are out of range, causing it to not work properly.

To resolve this issue, you can use applications such as GPS Status and Toolbox to clear your GPS data.

In the application, tap anywhere on the screen → Menu icon → Manage A-GPS Status → Reset and return to Manage A-GPS Status → Download when finished. Your GPS data will be refreshed.

3rd Party Applications

You can check if any installed apps are causing problems with your device by simply restarting in Safe Mode and checking the GPS location in Safe Mode.

If you find that Google Maps is working fine in safe mode, then any installed apps are causing the problem. Uninstall any fake GPS apps installed on your device, as well as any unconventional apps downloaded from sources other than the Play Store.

Update Google Maps and Play Services

This may resolve the issue, as updated G-Maps may contain patches to fix any issues with existing app versions and system operating systems.

Also, update the Google Play services, as they act as a link between the Google Apps installed on your device and Google's servers for updates and smooth operation of G-Maps.
